One of the saddest things on this planet that you may come across is a senior dog in a shelter. While there are a few shelters that give their dogs a good life, most shelters are overcrowded. They can’t handle giving each of the dogs personal care and treatment.
There are also many times when senior dogs are taken off the streets; they are not even taken to shelters anymore. They are given death sentences outright. For dog owners that have senior dogs, you know that they can be as fun and loving as any younger dog. They may not be as active, but they can give as much love as you can show them, maybe even more so.
Old dogs deserve a good life too
One woman who adopted a senior dog from a shelter knows this. But when her family and friends found out what she did, they chided and mocked her. They told the woman that she is just wasting her time and money on a sickly old dog.
They said that senior dogs meant racking up vet and medicine bills. Senior dogs are not active anymore and tend to get tired and sleepy all the time. They also require a lot more attention and care. And most of all, they won’t last as long as younger dogs.
The woman already knew all of this, but she didn’t care. She also knew that the senior dog she adopted had led a tough life. And now that he is in his advanced years, she wanted to give the pooch a comfortable and loving home. She gave her all the love that she can provide, and in return, she had a very loyal and loving pet and companion.
