When Nova was given up by her owners to a shelter, her face was swollen from infection. Apparently, she got bitten by the other family dog, and her owners did not bother to have her treated. When her situation got worse, her owners decided to just give up on her. The shelter saw that her injuries were extensive, so they decided to just put her to sleep.
Fortunately for Nove, a rescue organization got wind of her situation and came and get her three hours before her scheduled euthanasia. A volunteer from the organization picked Nova up and rushed her over to a veterinarian.
Nova’s recovery
The vet was shocked to see how swollen Nova’s face was. They had never seen anything like it. They quickly hooked her up to some IV for antibiotics and hydration. They also treated her wounds. Thankfully, her swollen face shrunk after two days, and her health significantly improved.
When Nova got better, they brought her to a foster home where she would stay until they can find someone to adopt her. The puppy showed significant improvements not only to her health but to her behavior as well. She became more active and playful. She was friendly with the other foster dogs and looked like she was more than ready to be adopted.
Second brush with death
Then all of a sudden, Nova made a quick turn around. She became lethargic and looked sad. There seemed something definitely wrong with her. They took Nova back to the vet, and there they discovered that she contracted a life-threatening virus called Parvo.
This new health problem was even worse than the first one she had. Over the next couple of days, Nova went in and out of sleep. Her health had some highs and lows, but ultimately, she got better. The dog had a strong fighting spirit.
Nova’s new home
Two sisters, Chelsea and Christina, have been monitoring Nova’s progress. They love how the dog fought to survive, and they want to give her a happy life. A reward that she greatly deserves. When they learned that Nova was up for adoption, the two did not hesitate.
Nova now lives with the sisters and their dog Harper. She’s never been happier in her life and lives with all the love that she can get. Indeed a wondrous ending to her story.
