Hope For Paws rescuers face different challenges each day. Every mission is different from another. But this particular mission is the most epic rescue the team has ever done.
Eldad Hagar, Loreta Frankonyte, and Lisa Arturo were at a funeral when they received an urgent call for help. The reporter claims to spot puppies living in a small cave in a deserted place. In memory of their friend who dedicated most of her life rescuing animals, the team left to extend their helping hands to the animals in need.
When the rescuers arrived at the said location, the puppies peeked from the little opening of the cave. They tried to gain their trust by offering them some food. In a few minutes, Loreta already has puppy #1.
The team thought it’d be an easy mission, but they were wrong. Suddenly, something spooked the puppies, and they all scattered back into the cave.
Reaching the puppies from the outside became impossible. So Eldad decided to squeeze himself into the small opening so he could reach them. However, the space was too narrow for him to go entirely inside.
Using a gentle snare, Eldad grabbed puppy #2, then Loreta and Lisa had to pull them out. There just wasn’t much space for them to get out quickly. Later on, Eldad was already able to pull out puppies #3 and #4.
Saving the remaining puppies was an extreme challenge. They cowered to the farthest part of the cave. The rescuers had to dig a new hole that would meet the puppies. But they couldn’t make a big one because the whole thing might collapse over the little ones.
Once they dug a hole big enough for Eldad, he went in and grabbed puppy #5. Like the first time, Loreta and Lisa had to pull him out with his legs. And they did the same thing for puppies #6, #7, and #8.
The puppies were born to a feral mother who avoided rescue for the last five years. They’ve never known human contact, so they felt extremely terrified. But with several gentle touches, they all calmed down.
The team thought their work is over because they could no longer hear any cries. But to make sure, Eldad chose to go back in. And the farthest part of the cave, he saw puppy #9, the runt among the litter.
Once the rescuers made sure that no puppy is left behind, they drove back to the rescue center. They introduced Luke, Isaac, Sarah, Abraham, Mary, Angel, Solomon, and Heaven to their surrogate mom Olive.
