A lot of puppies are either abandoned or surrendered to animal rescue shelters because of having special needs. While it’s true that dogs with special needs do need to be in a special environment to thrive, it’s still quite sad that they are given up by people just because they have a disability.
Special needs dogs can still live a normal life despite their disabilities. If they’re given a chance, they can thrive and be amazing dogs. This is what happened to a bulldog puppy named Martin.
Martin was surrendered to an animal rescue shelter because he was blind. He was still a puppy when he was given up by his owners, but the rescuers knew that the sweet bulldog wouldn’t have any problems getting adopted. Although Martin was born blind, he didn’t care and had a lot of confidence running around with the other dogs in the rescue shelter.
The shelter was flown to Washington DC to be with his foster mom, Jaimie, who is a volunteer for Road Dogs & Rescue. Jaimie fosters puppies and gets them ready for their forever homes. Martin is such a sweetheart that he was eventually adopted by a couple named Jessica and Ryan.
The animal rescue organization that took in Martin knew Jessica and Ryan. The couple already adopted a rescue dog from the rescue organization in the past and gave him a fantastic home. The rescue organization knew that Martin would fit in perfectly with Jessica and Ryan and that the couple would give Martin a great home.
Jessica and Ryan already had two bulldogs named Franklin and Kennedy. Both dogs are very playful. Although the couple already had two dogs, they still decided to adopt Martin after seeing his pictures and learning about his story. They wanted to give Martin a forever home.
Jessica flew with Martin to Maryland, where Jessica and Ryan lived. When she introduced Martin to Jessica for the first time, she knew that everything would be alright with Martin. Martin also got along with the two other bulldogs in his new home. Franklin and Kennedy also accepted Martin as part of the family the first time they met.
Jessica also introduced Martin to her daughter, Lincoln. She was concerned that Martin would be a little too jumpy for Lincoln, but Martin was very calm around Lincoln. Despite being blind, Martin is still such a loving dog. Here’s an adorable video about how Martin found his forever home.
